Because I got my start in equine photography at a horse rescue, I make it my goal to give back to a horse rescue whenever I can. Gifting professional photos to a rescue can be a huge help in getting these beautiful animals a home. People are attracted to well-composed, well-exposed photographs, so it makes sense to have a professional photographer on your volunteer team! It takes a lot of extra work for the volunteers and this crew really put in the work and magic to make their horses shine!
I reached out to Sixteen Hands Horse Sanctuary in Ona, Florida and I’m so glad I did! We worked our magic on 6 gorgeous rescues and I even got to get Robin’s adorable dogs in front of my camera.
Sixteen Hands Horse Sanctuary is a lifetime sanctuary to abused, abandoned, neglected and unwanted horses. It was obvious that all of their horses are well-loved by the volunteers. I enjoyed learning about the six horses we got to get in front of the camera and hearing all of their stories, especially sweet Lexi who is a senior horse with allergies. I have a big soft spot for oldies since my first heart horse was a senior.
If you’re in southwest Florida and looking for a rescue horse to give a soft landing to or looking for a great place to volunteer, I highly recommend checking out Sixteen Hands Horse Sanctuary!
