I’ve been horse-obsessed for as long as I can remember, but I was also the kind of child who could get completely lost in a museum, standing in front of artwork and feeling something I didn’t yet have words for. I dreamed of becoming a National Geographic photographer one day, to create images that made people pause, feel, and remember.
Years later, after returning from Afghanistan and volunteering at a horse rescue in 2014, I found my true calling in photographing the bond between horses and the people who love them.
Today, through Truluck Photography, I create bespoke equine artwork designed to do more than document a moment-it is meant to be lived with, cherished, and passed down. This birthday giveaway is a celebration of the horse community that has meant so much to me, and of the kind of artwork that keeps the love we share with our horses close for years to come.
Meet your photographer
It's not a problem at all. I currently own three horses and have worked with dozens over the last decade, so I know every horse has their own personality, quirks, and comfort level. Your horse does not need to be perfectly trained or stand still for long for us to create something beautiful—I work with patience, body language, and gentle direction to keep the experience relaxed and natural. If your horse is especially nervous, young, or unsure around new people or places, just let me know ahead of time so I can help them feel comfortable.
Absolutely. These sessions are created to honor both the beauty of your horse and the connection you share. They may be styled as fine art portraits that showcase your horse’s grace and presence, or as heartfelt imagery centered on the bond between you — all with the intention of preserving your story in a meaningful, beautiful way.
Up to two horses are included in your session, and additional horses may be added for $100 each. That fee becomes a credit you can later apply toward artwork at your gallery reveal. Bringing more horses often means a wider variety of images to choose from, and if needed, I can also create composite artwork from multiple photographs so everyone looks their best. Because more horses usually result in more final images, many clients find that their overall artwork investment increases as well.
If you’re selected, your equine portrait experience will include your session along with a $300 artwork credit to use toward prints and custom artwork from your images. That credit may be applied toward a single piece or used as part of a larger artwork order. Any additional prints, products, or artwork are purchased separately at your gallery reveal.
